The archive evidence came next.
Not all recordings.
Only relevant ones.
Outside counsel authenticated the cabinet arrangement.
Locksmith.
Notary.
Digital examiner.
Oncologist.
Nurse.
Then Anton’s voice.
Weak.
Still unmistakable.
Constance saw me put the key in Bruno. If she asks, tell her I lost it. I am tired of arguing about whether my final decision counts as mine.
Constance sat perfectly still.
Another recording:
I revoke her authority to use my signature on directives. Routine cards only. If she says otherwise, she is wrong.
Then:
Lorenzo may be furious that I used Milo’s toy as storage. He may also deserve to be furious. Better that than Constance finding the key in my desk.
A few jurors smiled.
I did too.
Then the most difficult.
I should have stopped this years ago. Constance thinks family needs one voice. I taught her that by being the voice. That is on me.

My father did not die blaming one woman for a system he had led.
He owned his part.
Then:
Do not punish her for all of me.
That sentence hurt more than any other.
Constance cried.

The prosecution did not use it to soften the current act.
The defense did.
